Support

the Garden

Finance, fundraising, and how you can help us

Our running costs are modest. Core costs are around £60,000 a year. This covers the cost of employing two part time garden workers together with other costs such as maintenance, utilities, events, and insurance. We rely to a great extent on grants from charitable trusts. We have some generous long-term funders, especially the Cripplegate Foundation. Other funders in the past include the Tudor Trust, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Trust for London and the City Bridge Trust.

We get additional income from member subscriptions and donations, as well as events such as plant sales and the letting of our resource centre for a limited number of events.

Fundraising from charitable trusts is getting harder and we are looking at ways of increasing income from other sources. You can help keep the garden open by:

  • Making a regular donation We are always looking for friends of the garden to make regular donations. Please consider setting up a regular monthly standing order to Culpeper. If 100 people each gave £10 a month, we would raise £12,000 a year. Donate here!

  • Hiring us We accept bookings for events and filming. Our prices are competitive and beat those of the Islington Film Unit. for as little as £1000 you can have a dreamy location in the heart of london for your event which can fit well over 100 people. Every penny spent goes to charity. Call the garden for more information.

  • Corporate workdays We are also looking for corporate partners and local businesses to support us and offer low daily rates to facilitate interesting and fun workdays. If your business wants to run a corporate workday for staff, please contact us to discuss.
